Description of the Programme
Music Technology (Recording/Music Production) prepares students for work in artistic, technical or producer/director capacities in music and music-related media industries. Music technology shapes all the music you hear, whether it is a software program listening to music and displaying chords and tempo or your cell phone identifying a song and recommending similar artists. Students are practically trained for work as music technologists and audio engineers. The training balances the development of artistic and creative skills with the mastery of technical skills, and entails application of modern and new technologies in the music industry. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the role technology plays in producing, performing, recording and creating music and sound. You will undertake both theoretical and practical training that emphasizes the development of creativity in music technology and music as a business. You will gain a thorough understanding of music technology applications in studio and commercial music production and recording, live sound recording and reinforcement, computing and sound editing and sound composition. During the programme, students will develop skills in the following among other areas:
- Creative work with MIDI and audio
- Music composition and theory
- Music production and sound aesthetics
- Arranging and composing
- sound design for film and theater, audio for film
- PA-sound and sound installations
- Notation and sequencing

- Programming and algorithmic composition
