Description of the Programme

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology deals with the study, design, development, implementation, support, or management of information systems with the use of software applications and computer hardware to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve information. It includes the study of software development, software testing, software engineering, computer networking, web design, databases, programming, etc. In other words, B.Sc. in Information Technology degree is a comprehensive course that involves the study of computing technology, covering everything from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. The programme is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the theories of IT, networks and computers including quantitative methods, programming, information and communications technology (database management, operating systems, networks and internet essentials) and the organizational foundations “knowledge and tools” to apply information technology broadly in every organization, at every level and in every domain. You will learn about operating systems, computer networks, structured programming, object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, network systems administration, computer graphics, management information systems, simulation and modeling, distributed systems, computer security, e-commerce and artificial intelligence among others.
