Bachelor of Science (Meteorology)

Description of the Programme

The Bachelor of Science in Meteorology degree programme aims for a thorough and research-oriented education in meteorology and advances the student’s understanding of the atmospheric processes that influence weather and climate. The program is designed to provide the next generation of meteorology specialists with adequate knowledge and skills to: (i) effectively monitor and analyze the atmospheric state across a spectrum of temporal and geospatial scales; (ii) provide timely and precise forecasts of severe and ordinary weather; and (iii) deal with pertinent contemporary challenges such as global climate change. Students are thereby equipped with the fundamental knowledge of meteorology, familiarity with the use of specific meteorological algorithms and equations, reasoning of meteorological problems, practical and theoretical skills in using thermodynamic methods, data analysis, programming, numerics and their specific application within the field of meteorology. Students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge in weather forecasting, weather and climate system analysis, early warning, environmental pollution and Environmental Impacts Assessment, Agrometeorology, Biometeorology, Hydrometeorology, Atmospheric Dynamics, Renewable Energy Resources, Tropical Meteorology, Aviation Meteorology, Marine Meteorology, Environmental Meteorology, etc.
