Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree course is designed to provide the learners with a wide range of skills and prepares them to work in the areas of business management, accounting, financial management, banking, micro-finance, marketing, information systems, actuarial science, human resource management, business analysis, general management and administration among other related fields in public, private as well as the not-for-profit sectors of the economy. It focuses both on academic subjects such as statistics and economics as well as practical business subjects like accountancy, marketing, management, finance etc. In the first and second years of study, students take general commerce courses and are required to select one area of specialization prior to moving to the third year of study. The different areas of specialization lay emphasis on the functional areas of commerce and the contemporary business environment.

B.Com offers professional specialisation in the following areas: Accounting; Banking and Finance; Taxation; Insurance and Risk Management; Management Science; Marketing; Entrepreneurship; Strategic Management; Operations Management; International Business Management; Human Resource Management; Cooperative Management; Information Management; Procurement/Purchasing and Supplies Management; and Investment Management among other areas.
