The Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration addresses issues of governance, organization and policy in democratic societies and equips students with the skills necessary for challenging and dynamic administrative and executive careers in the public service, private sector and international organizations. The programme comprises the study of diverse theories of administration, public service, public organizations as well as the constitutional framework. You will study democratic values of justice, equality, security and order as well as issues of governance and public policy. By adopting a comprehensive training, the study of public administration encompasses a variety of specialized sub-fields including politics and public policy; the nexus between public administration and politics; government structure; public sector management; public budgeting and finance; nonprofit administration; administrative management; personnel management and ethics; policy development; planning, program assessment and evaluation; urban planning; community dynamics etc. The degree programme also introduces a variety of skills essential for professional participation in public service including effective communication, research and analytical capabilities as well as critical and creative thinking. You will learn how public administrators formulate policies and enforce programs in order to build and strengthen governance. Students will also be trained to become better participants in the country’s democratic process. The programme is therefore designed to give students the requisite knowledge and build strategic and innovative problem-solving skills necessary for creative solutions to the numerous, complex and diverse needs in public service, private and corporate domains.
