Description of the Programme
The Bachelor of Business Information Technology degree programme is structured with an aim of developing information technology professionals who are equipped with business tools and whose orientation is in business management. Students will be equipped with the capacity to critically analyze, design, implement and manage information technologies with a focus on overall business productivity and strategic objectives. It is a modern course that brings together two key aspects of computer training, that is, the link between Information Technology and the business environment. The programme prepares students for the job market through knowledge of Information Technology with an understanding and appreciation of how business is organised and managed. Students will be trained as business information specialists with the knowledge and skills to analyse business problems and find possible IT solutions for these problems. This ranges from running an efficiency audit on a company’s information systems to analysing the effectiveness of a file management system and designing business software applications. The course is structured to focus on issues surrounding the development and implementation of IT solutions that meet the organizational strategies, that is Strategic use of information systems to give businesses a competitive advantage through proper information management; and Management of ICT as a strategic corporate resource.
