Computing & Information TechnologyDescription of the Programme
The unique interplay between mathematics and computer science is significant and growing. The design of reliable software for critical applications as well as designing and analyzing efficient algorithms inevitably rely on advanced mathematical tools. Equally, computers facilitate the pursuit of mathematics, whether they are used for searching information, visualization or performing the routine and laborious manipulation involved in some mathematical operations. The programme combines modules from both the computer science and mathematics degrees and it is designed to allow students to undertake a wide range of practical projects and exercises in order to strengthen and build on lecture material. In their final year of study, students undertake a practical project which is usually interdisciplinary between the two subjects.
