Bachelor of Economics and Finance degree is a programme for students with high-altitude ambitions of becoming professionals in the areas of economics and finance. The programme explores modern economics and its application to financial systems and organizations. This dynamic and highly-specialised degree programme is designed to help students develop a strong technical foundation and analytical rigour they need to pursue a leading career in finance, capital markets, investment banking, equity and venture capital or as an economist in a range of sectors. The program involves the study of theory, practices, institutions and policies of both the domestic and global economy at both the micro and macro levels. This program provides you with the knowledge and skills required to perform high-level economic and financial analysis at the management level in both the public and private sectors. As a graduate of this programme, you will be able to identify and apply the tools of analysis to a wide range of economic issues including the labour market, financial markets, the behaviour of consumers and firms, fiscal and monetary policy, the environment and international trade. You will also develop expertise in the ways businesses, individuals and other organizations raise, allocate and use financial resources. Some of the courses studied include macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial management, non-linear optimization in economics, derivatives pricing, portfolio management, risk management, financial accounting and the use and management of data and information within organizations. Internship or work placement prepares you for a wide range of occupations across the banking, insurance, stockbroking and superannuation industries through combining theory with practical experience.
