Business and EconomicsDescription of the Programme
This programme brings together the most important approaches to understanding the economic, social and human world. In order to understand social and human phenomena, you must approach them from the contemporary disciplines of economics and sociology. The programme combines these two related disciplines and requires students to be well-grounded in both. The economics part of the programme deals with issues of unemployment, inflation & economic growth, market equilibrium, investment & savings, employment, money & banking, government taxation & spending, analysis of government policy and contemporary global economic issues among other topics. The sociology part focuses on how society and social life influence people and help shape their lives and includes studying the influence of the media, work, gender, globalization, inequality and multiculturalism on individuals and society. Sociology is the broadest of the social sciences and can give us an understanding of the social world. This program provides students with the technical and analytic tools, critical thinking skills and global perspective needed to navigate the 21st century successfully and succeed in many careers.
