The Bachelor of Arts in History in History and International Studies is a joint degree programme aimed at imparting an unequivocally inclusive history and international education. It is intended to provide the skills required to analyze and interpret national and global affairs from a historical perspective. It also aims to equip the graduates with the requisite knowledge to understand and enhance Kenya‘s place in the international community. The course examines the global evolution of international studies with an emphasis on in-depth historical studies supported by political and sociological analysis. You will gain an appreciation of the historical evolution of the international system as well as engage with key dilemmas and contestations dominating international politics today. You will be able to understand and use the main concepts, approaches and theories in the study of history and international studies and to analyse, interpret and evaluate world-historical and international events and issues. You will also develop communication skills and cultural awareness to effectively communicate across linguistic, cultural and political boundaries so that you can engage in international development, diplomacy, global politics, business & trade, economics & international cooperation and development. Besides in-depth subject knowledge, graduates will develop valuable skills in researching; analysing and assessing sources; written and verbal communication; managing and interpreting information and developing ideas and arguments.
