Engineering TechnologyDescription of the Programme
Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy is an emerging interdisciplinary field designed to help students acquire a practical understanding so they can critically assess alternative energy sources and apply solutions to the energy demand. In today’s world, an ever-growing population with rising energy demand has resulted in a global expansion of renewable energy sources. Countries worldwide are investing a lot to strengthen their energy supply security and to stimulate innovation and employment. Students will learn the basics of solar and bioenergy as well as wind, water and geothermal power and global changes. You will also learn how these renewable energy sources are applied for business and entrepreneurship worldwide. You will gain fundamental knowledge in renewable energy technologies; bioenergy and heating/cooling systems; solar energy – photovoltaics and solar thermal power, solar heating and cooling; wind and water power; bioenergy – biomass, biofuels and biogas; geothermal energy as well as energy storage. Students will also acquire extended interdisciplinary knowledge in environmental and climate protection; energy efficiency; structural changes in energy economy – international aspects; decentralized electricity supply – rural and urban development, private households; integrated smart grid solutions; energy economics; financing; and energy law as well as aspects of sustainability in the context of climate and environmental protection.
