Bachelor of Applied Communication is intended to provide graduates with the theoretical, analytical and practical skills and knowledge for a career as a communication specialist in a variety of public, non-profit and private sector organizations that have positions that emphasize internal and external communication. Individuals will be cross-trained in visual, written and oral communication, emphasizing both practical application and theory-based communication strategies. The programme is devised to allow students to acquire knowledge and skills in various areas of applied communication studies including corporate and organizational communication, public relations, interpersonal communication, health communication, public speaking, visual design, media relations and professional writing among others. Some of the courses covered in the curriculum include Organizational Communication, Social Media Cultures, Principles of Public Speaking, Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Advanced Interpersonal Communication, Political Communication, Computer-mediated Communication and Social Media Strategies, Media and Society, Intercultural Communication among others.
