Bachelor of Arts in Community Development is an interdisciplinary programme designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in addressing community needs and challenges in both rural and urban settings. The curriculum provides students with the theoretical, statistical, decision-making and communication skills that they can effectively apply in the county and national governmental agencies and departments, community planning firms, NGOs, marketing firms, and other professional settings. The programme will enhance students’ abilities to: encourage people to get more involved in locally designed projects; collect and analyze different kinds of data; work with community leaders, groups and public; identify and mobilize necessary resources for development processes; and assess outcomes and impacts of community development projects. The training covers capacity building and sustainable development, resource mobilization and fundraising, project development and management, monitoring and evaluation of community projects, and strategic planning and community development among other topics. Graduates will be able to apply their skills to such issues as institutional development; human capacity building; economic development; youth development; poverty; land use planning; and other issues affecting the community
