Description of the Programme
The maritime industry is of global significance, generating billions of dollars of revenue annually and offering an ever-growing number of opportunities for professional careers. The B.Sc (Hons) Maritime Business constitutes a comprehensive programme of study in the area of Maritime Business, a key link in the global supply chain, as about 90 percent of world trade is carried by the shipping industry. Students will attain the combination of business acumen, modern shipping knowledge and maritime/port management expertise sought after by employers in the industry. During the first two years, students acquire basic knowledge of the maritime sector, while in the third year they focus on maritime business management. Some of the courses covered include maritime business, maritime operations, current marine issues, ports and logistics, management of marine organizations, chartering practice, carriage of goods by sea, ship management and operations, international trade and finance, marine finance, maritime law and risk management, supply chain management, maritime regulation and industry bodies and marine insurance among others.
