The Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree course is designed to prepare teachers for secondary schools and tertiary institutions and provides a comprehensive entry to a wide range of fascinating areas of study across the humanities, arts and social sciences. The programme is also suitable for those who are involved in training and educational management in tertiary institutions as well as institutions of higher learning in both the public and private sector. This course is offered on an integrated basis where by the academic and professional contents are taught concurrently. The Curriculum is designed to provide ample opportunities in both theory and practice of Education so as to train and produce qualified professional graduate teachers for the achievement of the national education and development goals. Graduates will be equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to conduct training and carry out research in their areas of specialization and other areas of interest in the entire education sector. Students will be expected to select two teaching subjects in addition to foundation courses in education. The two teaching subjects choosen by the student must correspond to the curriculum offered in Secondary Schools and other equivalent institutions in Kenya’s Education system. The following Subject Combinations are approved by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC):

The students shall take twelve (12) weeks of teaching practice in approved secondary schools or equivalent education institutions.
