Description of the Programme

The design of this degree programme is in line with Vision 2030, the long-term national development blueprint that aims to transform Kenya into an industrialized, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030.  Based on experiences from other countries that have witnessed great economic development, it is not possible for Kenya to achieve such a feat, without a strong entrepreneurial spirit with successful small business enterprises.  Suffice it to say therefore that this highly innovative and entrepreneurial course addresses an important issue of national development i.e. a vibrant and strong economy responsible for its own citizens. Students will be well grounded in topics vital to entrepreneurship and small business such as entrepreneurial finance, consulting and franchising, business management, small business financial accounting, global business, e-commerce, systems management, business venture analysis, new business development, financial decision making, leadership ethics and internet marketing among others. Students will also learn techniques for raising venture capital and start-up funding. Upon completion of the programme graduates will be able to: make sound financial and managerial decisions; develop and design feasible Business Plans; appraise projects and conduct feasibility studies; start, manage and grow small businesses and see them grow through medium enterprises to large firms. Students will also be well-grounded in project planning and management.
