Description of the Programme

This course is designed to help students develop the professional competencies required for middle and senior health care management positions in the health care system. Professionals already working in the health sector can also enroll for the course. This includes clinicians, medical or general hospital administrators, quality assurance managers, senior nursing administrators, team leaders, unit managers and a wide range of employees within the health care system. The program covers a broad spectrum of medical, managerial, financial and administrative courses to equip you for a career in the field of healthcare management. Some of the courses covered include clinical leadership and management; financial issues in health care management; epidemiology and biostatistics; foundations of health policy; marketing and communications; law for health systems; reform and development of health services; health care finance and budgeting; climate change and public health; organizational leadership; strategic planning; health economics, etc. Students will be equipped with the business skills needed for effective execution of management roles in planning and coordinating healthcare service delivery, understanding the role of clinical services, as well as managing information and resources. The compulsory Attachment/Practicum in relevant health organizations will give you the opportunity to integrate your learning with hands-on practical experience in the industry; build your resume; make crucial industry networks; expose you to actual public health informational issues and problems, and learn about future opportunities within the health sector.
