Bachelor of Radiography is designed to provide you with the latest knowledge, skills and experience in medical imaging and train you in techniques like general radiography, computed tomography (CT), digital vascular imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) which a required for one to become a registered radiographer. Radiography is the art and science of using radiation to provide images of the tissues, organs, bones and vessels that comprise the human body. Radiologists are physicians who have special training in interpreting diagnostic images, reading or diagnosing these images. Treatment of a patient depends on the accurate and precise production of radiographic images. Radiographers facilitate patient diagnosis and management by producing diagnostic images of the structure and function of the body to assist medical diagnosis and medical decision making by Radiologists. As a diagnostic radiography student, you will be trained to use a range of advanced imaging technologies to produce diagnostic images such as plain x-rays, computed tomography (CT), fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, angiography and mammography in settings such as private and public imaging departments, accident and emergency, wards and operating theaters. You will learn to work closely with patients and other health professionals to diagnose and manage illnesses and injuries using medical images. The program incorporates clinical placements in hospitals and medical imaging centers/private radiology clinics to help you gain valuable clinical practice, experience and skills.
