Agronomy is the science and technology of of producing and using plants for food, fuel, feed, fibre, and reclamation. It also entails the study of soils. The aim of the programme is to produce graduates with broad knowledge in agronomic, agricultural, environmental, natural resource management and communication technology who shall be able to work in the agricultural industry. Agronomy encompasses work in the areas of plant genetics, plant physiology, meteorology and soil science. Students learn about crop production based on biological knowledge, discover and regulate the biological process, how to produce healthy crop products and learn about producing the high yielding crops. You will take courses in crop physiology, plant breeding and forage sciences among other topics.
