Description of the Programme

Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences is designed to train students to acquire relevant scientific knowledge and practical skills in Biological Sciences leading to the award of the Degree in Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. The course is an interdisciplinary degree and brings together subjects including molecular genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, comparative physiology, terrestrial ecology, marine biology, evolutionary biology and environmental biology, giving you the knowledge and skills vital in battling global challenges such as cancer, infectious diseases, ageing and food security. The training will equip you with an understanding of human disease genomics, genetic engineering, the mechanisms of disease and cell communication. The programme incorporates field and laboratory studies in appropriate subjects at all levels.
