Agriculture & Enterprise DevelopmentDescription of the Programme
The Bachelor of Science in Dryland Agriculture offers students a global perspective on agriculture, providing them with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to pursue a career in agriculture, for employment within the government or private sector, own business and not-for-profit sectors. It lays special emphasis on how to turn land in unproductive land due to harsh weather conditions or pollution into arable land. You will cover science and technology for crop, pasture and livestock production (including the roles of genetics and management in achieving optimum production against environmental constraints), and their integration into viable farming systems. You will place special emphasis on emerging technologies for precise management of crops and livestock, and their role in ensuring safe, sustainable production systems. In your second year, you will undertake supervised research into a current and emerging industry problem.
