The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree programme prepares students to become proficient in all fundamental areas and techniques of computer science. As technology continues to evolve, businesses in every industry will continue to have growing needs for qualified individuals to manage and develop their web-based applications, websites and databases. Therefore, individuals with a bachelor’s degree in computer science have the qualifications desired in IT departments in big and small companies (start-ups and high-tech companies) and will make competitive candidates in the job market. Students will receive a comprehensive understanding of design, development, testing and documentation of a range of operating systems, database management and programming languages. The programme also focuses on the concepts and techniques used in the design and development of advanced software systems. Students will explore the conceptual underpinnings of computer science — its fundamental algorithms, programming languages, operating systems and software engineering techniques. In addition, students choose from a rich set of electives that includes computer graphics, database systems, computer architecture and computer networks among other topics.
