Description of the Programme

This programme is ideal for those who would like to pursue Mathematics to a high level and also take advantage of the Business Studies programmes since it combines the two disciplines in equal proportions. The dual programme is designed to provide students with a focused background in business principles and theories, alongside an in-depth knowledge of mathematics. Advances in scientific technology, modern computations and the increasing production of data have all widened the scope for the application of mathematics far beyond the traditional areas of physical sciences and engineering, including new fields such as economics, finance and information technology among other key areas. The modules covered include calculus, linear algebra, statistics, financial accounting, management accounting, mathematical IT skills, economic principles for business and markets among others. There are diverse options in the Mathematics component and one can specialize in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics or operational research.
