Engineering TechnologyDescription of the Programme
A microprocessor is a single integrated circuit that incorporates the functiö of a CPU. This course therefore involves IT units biased towards microprocessor technology. Instrumentation on the other hand is a branch of engineering that deals with control and measurement. Therefore in this course, you will learn the various industrial instruments and their control. Students will acquire training in areas such as embedded systems and related technology as well as application in the business systems, industry, biomedical and scientific research and instrumentation. The programme further provides an avenue for graduate studies in the areas of Computer Technology, Scientific and Industrial Instrumentation, Solid State and Semiconductor Device Physics, and advanced technologies for electronic devices and new materials. The curriculum has been developed in line with the fast-changing computer hardware and software technologies. Some of the courses covered include Digital Electronics, Quantum Techniques, Data Communications, Instrumentation Electronics, Control Systems, Thermal Physics, Microprocessor Architecture and Systems, Microcomputer Interfacing, Software Development, Signal Recovery and Processing, Image Processing, etc. Areas of specialization include Applied Physics, Computing, Industrial Electronics, Biomedical and Radiometric Instrumentation and Telecommunications.
