Description of the Programme

Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree programme equips students with the tools to apply the fundamental concepts of management, marketing, finance and law to sports organizations. It provides a well-rounded approach to issues encountered in managing events, individuals, teams and organizations. Sports management professionals are responsible for the basic organization and scheduling of sport and/or recreation-based clients. Sports managers work for recreation facilities, individual athletes or large organizations and help to keep business affairs in order behind the scenes. They also represent athletes in contract negotiations. They may also handle other contract issues while promoting their clients. They also organize and supervise games, sports activities and exercise programs. They also work for sports organizations promoting events, collaborating with advertisers or creating campaigns. The programme provides in-depth coursework in operations management; social, cultural and international foundations of sport; strategic sport management, leadership, venue and event management; administration and governance; marketing, promotions & communication; accounting and economics of sports; legal aspects of sport; coaching; sports psychology; ethics; personnel; and financial management among other key areas in sports management. The course has an extensive internship program to help students gain real-world experience in a sport industry-based setting. It also helps you develop industry contacts and gives you an advantage with potential employers.
