Diploma in Civil Engineering

Description of the Programme
Diploma in Civil Engineering deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings among other works. Students are provided a solid foundation in computing, mathematical, drawing and communication skills and the basics of civil engineering disciplines and be be equipped with skills to design, develop, manufacture, construct and maintain civil engineering products, systems and services. They will be exposed to various subjects of civil engineering like planning, drafting (both manual and computer aided), surveying, estimation and costing, construction technology, basics of the highway, railway, bridge, airport, tunnel and harbour engineering. The course also offers adequate exposure to reinforced concreate structures, quality control, material testing, construction management, entrepreneurship and professional practice among others. Students also get a feel for an extensive survey, building drawing, irrigation and bridge drawing and structural engineering drawing. You will be required to complete an internship in a reputable civil engineering-based company.
