Description of the Programme
This programme is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to work in libraries and other information management centers with knowledge and skills to collect, organize, store, retrieve and disseminate information. The programme has been developed from the need to produce skilled manpower to manage information resources in various organizations. With the job market in the field of librarianship becoming competitive, the increase in lucrative positions is evident. Students will learn about the information industries (such as libraries and archives and records management), information collections and how to manage them, information literacy, information seeking and information sources and services for library clients.

A Minimum Mean Grade of C- (minus) at KCSE

Career and Employment Opportunities
This qualification will prepare graduates for a career in school, public, special or academic libraries; NGOs; Registries; Archives; Documentation Centers; and Information consultancy firms as a librarian, library assistant, assistant librarian, ICT assistant, archives assistant, records manager etc. They are also employed to teach library skills in secondary schools and others start their own business/consultancy firms in the field of information management.
