Description of the Programme

Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media) degree course is designed to provide students with a broad array of skills tailored to meet the needs of the fast-changing communications and media landscape. This degree programme will not only enable students to gain real-world experience in media writing (news writing, scriptwriting); editing; radio, video and digital media production, but will also prepare them to succeed in corporate communication and branding, advertising and public relations. They will be well grounded in critical and scholarly education in media and communications theory and practice. Consequently, you will be able to research, plan, execute and manage marketing campaigns and acquire skills in product publicity, issue management, media relations and crisis communications. This degree focuses on both local and international media and encourages a deeper understanding of how producers and consumers interact in a media-saturated world. You will gain in-depth knowledge about how communication practices and the use of different technologies are integrated with our social, professional and political lives. You will also address relevant global, political, social and economic issues affecting communications and the media industries. This programme will also offer skills in various areas including intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, mediation and negotiation skills, and ethical issues among others.
