The real estate sector plays a vital role in the national economy and in the recent past has been one of the fastest-growing and dynamic sectors in the country outperforming most of the traditionally recognized sectors. This rapid growth requires a pool of qualified professionals to play key roles in its development as well as in the advancement of the quality of real estate through the transformation and management of real estate resources. The Bachelor of Real Estate degree programme is therefore designed to train professionals in the area of real estate with concentrations in real estate management, real estate finance and investment, property development, valuation and property market analysis with supporting units comprising business law, accounting, economic principles and financial management all geared towards developing professionals well anchored to create and manage wealth in the industry. Core competencies to be developed include the ability to analyze real estate investment opportunities from investor and lender perspectives, conduct asset and risk assessments, implement risk management strategies, understand the dynamics of real estate markets and develop an understanding of the legal framework surrounding real estate ownership, title transfer and the regulatory and legal requirements, including agency obligations common in real estate transactions.
