Bachelor of Education Arts (Home Economics)

Description of the Programme Bachelor of Education Arts (Home Economics), which is sometimes referred to as Family and Consumer Science, is an interdisciplinary programme that deals with finances, management and resource planning. It trains students about how to manage individual and family resources as well as understand the role personal finance plays in the economy. The programme examines the theoretical basis of various phenomena related to household and its activities as well as the interaction between individuals, families, and society. Students will be well grounded in diverse skills, theories and research practices related to different areas of home economics. The curriculum includes general education courses as well as home economics topics such as family financial management, child and human development, lifestyle choices and consumer practices, food and nutrition, fashion design and merchandising, budgeting, procurement, principles of economics, consumer economics and management, interpersonal communication, research methods, etc. Teacher’s pedagogical studies provide students with a home economics teacher’s qualification.
