Description of the Programme The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) is designed to explore concepts, issues and practices which are specific and common to early childhood education. You will learn to develop the physical, creative, intellectual, personal and social capabilities of young children. Studies including psychology, the social and cultural context of education and contemporary child development provide the foundations for understanding play-based and holistic learning and efficient early years teaching practice. You will learn strategies to promote early numeracy and literacy in children and their concepts of science, health, technology, the arts and environment. You will also learn how to work together with communities and families to support children’s education and support their transition to school. Students will also be equipped with a wide range of invaluable skills such as contemporary pedagogical understandings, organisational leadership and interpersonal skills among others that are highly cherished in all areas of life besides early childhood occupations.
