Description of the Programme Library science (often termed library studies or library and information science) is a trans-disciplinary field that applies the practices, perspectives, and tools of management, information technology, education, and other areas to libraries. Issues studied include collection building, organization of multiple information source types and systems, preservation of primary source materials, the political economy of information, and the teaching of information literacy skills necessary for effective interaction with information systems.
