Description of the Programme
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management is an integrated, interdisciplinary programme designed to provide students with the tools, knowledge and skills needed to be effective environmental managers. The major areas of study addressed within the program include air pollution; community development; emergency management; environmental regulation and policy; environmental investigation and monitoring; environmental planning; environmental protection; epidemiology; food safety; geographical information systems; noise, occupational environment; risk assessment; sustainable environmental management; toxicology; climate change; environmental remediation; urban development; environmental impact assessment; sustainable natural resource management; waste management; wildlife management; policy frameworks and water pollution among others. They will learn how to plan, implement and control all facets of ensuring compliance with safety, health and environmental laws, regulations and policies and examine the complex web of social, political, cultural, economic and ecological factors that shape the field of environmental management. Upon graduation, graduates will have a strong background and competence in a wide range of environmental management functions.
